Jaylene Moseley
President
Jaylene has focused her professional and philanthropic energies in Northwest Pasadena and Altadena for more than 30 years. As Flintridge President, she convenes community stakeholders and facilitates partnerships and collaborative action to improve the quality of life for the area’s children, youth and families. From 1986 through 2007, she served as Managing Director of Flintridge Foundation, leading various local collaborative efforts and marshalling cross-sector resources to address issues of community concern.
In 2003, she formed a collaboration of students, community members, and local nonprofit, civic and business leaders to respond to the lack of after-school programs at John Muir High School. This led to the formation of Mustangs on the Move, which provides educational and enrichment activities on Muir’s campus. Jaylene also served on the reinvention team that guided the high school’s restructuring into small learning academies, and she spearheaded the coalition that developed the partnership-sponsored Apprenticeship Preparation Program that prepares high-risk and gang-affiliated individuals for construction careers.
Jaylene is also the founder of the J. L. Moseley Company, which develops and manages commercial real estate in Northwest Pasadena and Altadena with the goal of promoting neighborhood renewal and empowerment. Past efforts include successfully mobilizing a task force of residents, youth, businesses and city agencies to revitalize a blighted section of Lincoln Avenue near John Muir High School. Strongly committed to sustainability, the company developed the first Gold LEED-Certified building in Pasadena in 2006. Jaylene also managed, pro bono, the 2007 development of the Mothers’ Club Gold LEED-Certified building.
Jaylene’s numerous awards for community leadership and sustainable development practices include:
● 2010 - Business Life Magazine: Selected as one of the Top 20 Women Achievers over the past 20 years.
● 2008 - Congressman Adam B. Schiff: 29th Congressional District Woman of the Year from Pasadena, for "consistently making a significant difference in our community and to celebrate your efforts as an activist, mentor and volunteer."
● 2007 - California State Legislature: Corporate Woman of the Year for significant accomplishments in business.
● 2007 - Mothers’ Club: Leadership Award for helping Mothers’ Club establish a permanent home.
● 2003 - Pasadena NAACP: Ruby McKnight Williams Award, the organization’s highest annual award for leadership in the area of civil rights.
● 2003 - Pasadena Police Activity League: PAL Golden Badge Award for contributions to the children and youth of Pasadena.
● 2002 - Leadership Pasadena: Excellence in Leadership Award for outstanding leadership to the City of Pasadena.
● 1994 - Harry Sheldon Memorial Award for “contributions to improving human relations in the City of Pasadena.”
