What We Do
Flintridge Neighborhood Leadership Institute

The Pasadena Neighborhood Leadership Institute (PNLI) is a free, eight-week training program to develop emerging, locally based leaders who can creatively address the issues and challenges confronting Pasadena's diverse neighborhoods. The interactive workshops include informational interviews, field assignments, group exercises and short presentations. Participants learn skills such as project planning and implementation, public speaking, running effective meetings, cross-cultural relations and recruiting volunteers. A final team project gives participants the opportunity to practice what they’ve learned and make a positive contribution to the city and its neighborhoods.

Initiated by Mayor Bill Bogaard to strengthen Pasadena communities, the program was created in partnership with the former Flintridge Foundation and the City of Pasadena. It is now administered by Neighborhood Connections and the PNLI Steering Committee. Mayor and Mrs. Bogaard and Flintridge Center continue to contribute funds and expertise to this important program.
