At Flintridge, we try to stay flexible and innovative. With so many important efforts going on in the community, that’s a must.
We use two main strategies to support the community in tackling difficult and complex issues. The particular approach will vary, depending on the goals of the project and the needs of our partners.
Ever since we were founded, constituents and nonprofit partners have requested support in building up the abilities of their organizations, and their senior managers and board members have requested assistance in expanding their leadership and fundraising skills. Flintridge has responded by developing a wide range of training programs, consulting services, facilities for meetings and retreats, and a staffed Philanthropy Resource Library. We have made these resources available at low- or no-charge to all nonprofit organizations in our area.
Now that capacity-building resources are dwindling in other communities in our region, our services are available to any nonprofit organization in the Greater Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley areas. Click here to learn more about what’s available.
No single organization can do all that needs to be done, so when groups of organizations come together around a pressing community issue, such as reducing violence or enabling youth to reach their full educational potential, Flintridge is
frequently invited to help coordinate the collaboration’s efforts.
We provide a coordinator, support staff, meeting space, and back-office functions necessary to assist so that partnering organizations and local leaders can focus on their goals, outcomes, and community change. We currently coordinate the work of five major efforts, which are described under Community Partnerships.

In addition to our two main efforts, we provide other types of community support as well, such as advocating for change at the local, state, and federal level whenever the welfare of children and youth is on the line. Flintridge also helps raise funds for the diverse Community Partnerships in which we are involved, along with seeking new funding partners to strengthen our capacity-building programs. And we’re always on the lookout for new ideas to work together to improve our community.
