One of the most significant collections in the Western United States.
The Foundation Center
The Philanthropy Resource Library is a research library for the use of individuals, nonprofit organizations and grantseekers. It is the only cooperating collection of the Foundation Center serving the San Gabriel Valley, and it is open as a free resource to the public.
The Library contains in-depth material on foundations, corporations and government agencies that provide support for nonprofit organizations. The collection includes books and periodicals that cover all aspects of grantwriting, fundraising and nonprofit management, including board development, strategic planning, financial accounting, human resources and volunteer management. Another collection focus is on programming and issues affecting children, youth and families. Assistance is always available.

In addition, small group orientations can be scheduled by calling the Philanthropy Resource Library at (626) 449-0839, ext. 118.
Free access is offered to subscription databases of funding information at the Library and, through a cooperative agreement, the Foundation Directory Online is also offered to the public at the La Pintoresca branch of the Pasadena Public Library.

Foundation Directory Online
The Foundation Directory Online is a continually updated database with comprehensive information on over 100,000 foundations, corporate giving programs and grantmaking public charities in the U.S. Created by the Foundation Center, this database generates targeted lists of funding prospects. It also contains information on more than two million recently awarded grants, IRS 990s, grantmaker websites and grant application guidelines.
GrantStation
GrantStation offers access to a set of powerful grantseeking tools and resources for identifying the appropriate grantmaker for any given program or project. Through this continually updated website, research is available on all types of grantmakers, including federal agencies, private foundations and corporate giving programs. Resources also include state agency grant programs and international funding sources. GrantStation provides step-by-step tutorials on how to develop a grantseeking program, write compelling grant requests and manage grant awards.
Foundation Grants to Individuals Online
This is a comprehensive database of private grantmakers, public charities/foundations and corporate giving programs in the U.S. that provide financial assistance to individuals. Over 9,000 grantmakers have been identified by the Foundation Center as conducting ongoing grantmaking programs for a variety of purposes, including scholarships, student loans, fellowships, travel internships, residencies, research, as well as art and cultural projects.
Wealth Engine
Wealth Engine is used as a tool to identify funding by individual prospects. Information about an individual is generated from 28 data sources, which are scanned simultaneously to produce a general profile, as well as corporate and philanthropic connections. This is an excellent starting point for finding and initially qualifying prospects.
Flintridge sponsors the Foundation Center’s Foundation Directory Online at the La Pintoresca Branch Library in Northwest Pasadena. There are 10 computers available in the Library’s Technology Learning Center. Please note that staff assistance in using the database of funding sources is offered only at Flintridge’s Philanthropy Resource Library.

Thanks again for a GREAT workshop yesterday! I found the material very pertinent to my work with emerging Fire Safe Councils, and I look forward to passing on some of the tips/practices. I also enjoyed visiting the Flintridge Center and its fabulous library. I will certainly be back to browse for more books.
