Drew E. Edwards

The Honorable Drew E. Edwards is a judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2003 by former Governor Gray Davis. Judge Edwards received his B.A. from Stanford University. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law in 1987. After graduating from law school, Edwards clerked for the Hon. Robert McWilliams with the U.S. District Court for the 10th Circuit of Appeal in Denver, Colorado. He returned to California in 1988 to join the San Francisco law firm of Morrison and Foerster as a civil litigator. In 1989 Edwards joined the Denver law firm of Davis, Graham, and Stubbs. After two years in Denver, he became a deputy federal public defender for the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Los Angeles in 1990. He remained in Los Angeles for four years before joining USA Basketball as general counsel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After a year there, he became deputy alternate public defender for the Los Angeles Alternate Public Defender’s Office, where he remained until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2003. His memberships have included the Black Public Defender’s Association, the Denver Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense, the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers, as well as the American Bar Association.
