Our Mentees Are Ballin

Ten Youth of Promise mentees have been chosen to be a part of the Clipper’s Mentor Assist Zone, a program that helps community-based mentorship programs and gives hope to kids that come from difficult backgrounds.
Being a part of the Zone allows our mentees to rub elbows with the Clippers through exciting activities. The youth were invited to attend the Clippers game against the Detroit Pistons with mentees from other Pasadena Mentoring Partner agencies such as Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters and Lake Avenue Community Foundation.
Our mentees also visited the Clippers’ training facility, where they got a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be a professional athlete and attended a roundtable discussion with former and current players. The youth were asked about their future goals and discussed with the players what it means to be a leader.
Every mentee also received a journal to reflect on their thoughts as they go through the program, which consists of two more roundtables focused on leadership and goal setting, a pregame clinic, cultural events, and other special activities.
Thank you, Clippers!
