Fall 2019 APP Graduation

On Wednesday, 17 individuals graduated from the Apprenticeship Preparation Program. Seven are set on becoming union carpenters. Three will become union electricians. Two want to join the sheet metal workers union and two want to be union painters. One is a future elevator constructors union member and another will become a union iron worker.

Flintridge was packed on Wednesday night as we celebrated the accomplishments of the Fall 2019 APP graduates. District 5 Councilmember Victor Gordo delivered the keynote address, speaking about the importance of perseverance. We honored long time OSHA-10 instructor and Local 105 member Will Scott, who has gone above & beyond to assist APP graduates seeking to enter the trades.

The son of 2015 APP graduate & GRIP Local 80 member Genghis was part of the graduating class. Genghis spoke about how the APP changed his life, and how happy he was to see his son getting the same opportunity. Ron Miller, Executive Secretary of the LA/OC Building & Construction Trades Council, closed with remarks about the current boom in opportunities to earn an honest living through union work.

Our deepest thanks to all of our partners who make this program possible, and congrats to all of the graduates and your families. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
