Fire Fightin’ Mentors

The firefighters of the Pasadena Fire Department are no strangers to our Youth of Promise Mentoring program.
They have been involved with YOP for years, mentoring groups of Washington Middle School students. Group mentoring allowed youth to visit the station biweekly to engage with the firefighters. However, our firefighting volunteers felt the need for a deeper connection to have a larger impact on the lives of these youth.
In response to the input from our awesome volunteers, YOP is proud to announce successful one-on-one mentorships, matching committed firefighters to mentees of their own. Our firefighters are undertaking an important role by dedicating time to mentoring youth living in high-need, high-risk circumstances for a minimum of a year. Throughout the year, mentors meet with their mentees for at least 5 hours each month.
It’s no small feat to be a mentor! Flintridge greatly appreciates the commitment and work these mentors do for our youth and the entire community. Thank you for your service!
