Girls’ Day Out
The girls in our Youth of Promise Mentoring Program got a special treat on Saturday, April 30. A jam-packed day of fun was planned for our mentees by our CSUN MSW intern Arielle Ventimiglia.
The girls began the day with a yoga class taught by Diana Diaz, founder of Youth Yoga, a nonprofit with the goal of giving youth the opportunity to learn how to connect with themselves. Following yoga class, the girls enjoyed a movie and lunch together. To conclude the day of fun, volunteer Marinela gave each girl a manicure.
The girls who attended Girls’ Day were engaged and really enjoyed the activities. The event allowed them to open up, discuss the importance of self-love and learn how to cope with negative internal and external criticism. Having events like Girls’ Day is important to all mentees. It allows our youth the opportunity to interact with each another and feel connected to the program.
