Looking Into the Future

The winter semester of the Apprenticeship Preparation Program is about half over. So far, students have completed their OSHA 10 certification and CPR training so they can practice safety in the workplace. They were also able to receive sturdy work shoes so they can hit the ground running! Just last week, the class visited the Carpenter’s Union and got an inside look at what it takes to enter the trade. Matt gave us great advice when he told us to “find something you love to do then make a career from it.” These eye-opening field trips help participants see their goals as reality.
The students have also been working on themselves during life skills sessions, discussing topics such as forgiveness and self-esteem. Our on-site social worker has provided additional counseling for those who need it. We can’t wait to see what these students accomplish after graduation!
