New Students Arrive

This week we welcomed nearly 30 new students to our Apprenticeship Preparation Program, a 10-week training course that helps formerly incarcerated and gang-involved community members obtain lasting union careers in the construction trades.

So far, the class has learned about the importance and purpose of unions, got a lesson in marketing themselves to employers, and had their first life skills session with our partner 2nd Call.

“This is a program of empowerment,” program instructor Jeffrey Bellissimo told the class. “That means we put you in a position to get a career.” We’re already so impressed with students’ open-mindedness, motivation to learn new things, and optimism for what’s to come in the future. We could not be more excited to be part of their journey toward careers and transformation. Check out our Facebook and Twitter pages for more updates from the class!
