Youth Get to Work (And Play!)

Our Youth of Promise (YOP) program participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service last weekend. This was an opportunity for students to give back to their community and reflect on what it means to serve. Youth helped clean up Pasadena High School’s campus and helped create small gardens on the property. Community service is an integral part of the YOP program, and it also allows high school students to complete service hours necessary for graduation.
The YOP Program has also been participating in National Mentoring Month festivities, and celebrated with an outing to the Los Angeles Clippers game last Monday night. YOP has been lucky to be involved in the Clippers’ Mentorship Assist Zone program, which gives youth the opportunity to learn leadership skills from players. We’re looking forward to joining the Mentorship Assist Zone again this year, and are grateful for the Clippers’ commitment to mentorship.
